Monthly Horticulture Competition EXHIBITORS: Only Golden Gate Rose Society members in
good standing may participate in the monthly rose show competitions. The Monthly Show Chairperson and Assistant Show Chairperson
may compete in the Monthly Show. Roses must have been grown in exhibitor’s
outdoor garden and must be entered in the name of the individual or husband/wife
team. An Exhibitor in Horticulture or Arrangements must enter in accordance with his/her status: Novice or Amateur. A beginner or newcomer to GGRS may exhibit only in the Novice Section. If a status from another society has been established this may be transferred to GGRS. A novice will advance to Amateur status by
accumulating a minimum of 70 points at the end of
the year to win Sweepstakes in GGRS monthly shows. The new status will
commence the start of the following year. EXHIBITS: Entry tags will be furnished by GGRS.
Exhibitors will furnish their own containers; only clear containers are
permitted. Exhibitors must remove personal property at the close of the show. Entry tags must be filled out completely,
including status, exhibitor’s name, class number and correct name of specimen
(s) according to schedule. Abbreviations
are NOT permitted. Each exhibitor may enter three (3) specimens
per class, but only one each
of the same variety is permitted. Multiple
entries of the same variety will be disqualified. Only one
(1) entry is permitted in the special class. Wedges are permitted, but must not protrude
above the lip of the container. All entries must be in place and staged no
later than 7:30 pm. Late entries are considered complimentary and will not be
judged. Specimen will be judged according to current
ARS show rules. The decision of the judges is final. This is an alphabetical
show. Awards: First, second, third and honorable mention
will be awarded when merited. Point distributions are 5,3,2,1 respectively. Five
(5) extra points are awarded to the best entry in the show. An award is given at our Annual Awards Meeting to the Exhibitors (Novice and Amateur) accumulating the highest total point scores during the year.
Monthly Arrangement Competition Only GGRS members in good standing may
participate in the monthly arrangement competition.
The monthly Arrangement Show Chairperson and Assistant Arrangement
Chairperson may compete in the monthly arrangement shows. An exhibitor must enter in accordance with
his/her status: Novice
or Amateur. A beginner or newcomer to GGRS may exhibit
in the Novice section. If a status from another society has been established
this may be transferred to GGRS. Arrangements can only be entered in one (1)
section, Novice or
Amateur. A novice will advance to Amateur status by
accumulating a minimum of 50 points at the end of
the year to win Sweepstakes in GGRS monthly shows. The new status will
commence the start of the following year All roses in the arrangements must have been
outdoor-grown. The containers are to be furnished by the
Exhibitor. Only one (1) arrangement per Exhibitor is
permitted in each designated class. ARS rules for judging rose arrangements will
apply. The decision of the judges is final. The Arrangement Class Title will be published each month in the Rose Consultant and GGRS website (www.ggrs.org). |
